village known for its traditional terracotta pottery, and 15 km from Orvieto.
The Castle of Sala, built in 1350, now owned by the famous wine company

We are located very close to the provincial borders of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio, close to the A-1 freeway
between Orvieto (coming from South) and Fabro-Ficulle (coming from North) exits, both 20 minutes-15 km far
from us and only 4 km far from a small village called Allerona Scalo where you will find asupermarket,
a pharmacy, a post office and an ATM.
Frallarenza is an ideal starting point from which one can visit many famous art-towns like Orvieto, Assisi,
Todi, Siena, Firenze and Rome, and many unique but unknown and time-forgotten villages.
When you are here, we are always available to provide you with additional information and current conditions
of the many sites in the area. Although there are too many to list here, the following gives you a flavor
of what is possible:
For the lovers of Hiking and Mountain Bike
For those who love to hike or ride a mountain bike there are many trails in the countryside,
passing trough woodlands, olive grove and vineyards, even starting directly from Frallarenza without the
car, of which we are pleased to give you the gps files, and of course many other informations about tracks
like times, slopes, ecc.
Frallarenza is 5 km far from the entrance of Natural Riserve of Monte Rufeno and from the bordering Natural Riserve of "Selva di Meana, one of the largest woodland area (6,500 hectares) in the West central Italy, very rich in biodiversity. This area, thanks to the very few humans interventions, have kept during centuries all the beauty of an almost uncontaminated woodland ecosystem.
Along the paths of the Reserve you can meet wild boar, deers, hares, foxes, squirrels and many birds,
including some species of hawk.
Nearby the medieval village of Allerona, you can visit (on request) Villa Cahen with its beautiful inside park-garden, built in 1880 in Art
Nouveau style, surrounded by the beautiful woods of the "Selva di Meana".
Underneath the Torre Alfina
Castle there is the "Bosco Monumentale del
Sasseto", a magical and evocative place for the presence of ancient trees grown on a land full of huge
lava rock masses covered with moss, transformed at the end of '800 by the Marquis Edoardo Cahen in an
evocative maze of paths to serve the castle. In the middle of the dense forest the Marquis Cahen built a
beautiful mausoleum in neo-Gothic style, the place of his burial.
Still close to Torre Alfina there is one of the most evocative places of the Riserva del Monte Rufeno, near
the Museo del Fiore: a beautiful path through dense woods leads to the Subbissone stream mill and to the
nearby brick bridge from the late 1800 that connected Torre Alfina with the nearby
Acquapendente.
